Phoenix House Academy in Westchester students were pleased to welcome our friend, singer/songwriter Kara DioGuardi, the creator of our Phoenix Rising Music Program to the Academy’s music studio. Our students participated in a special songwriting contest with Kara to raise awareness for Silent Tears with her song, “I Am Me.” Silent Tears is an organization devoted to giving a voice to victims of child sexual abuse. Kara is teaming up with Silent Tears to increase public awareness of this important cause via a national campaign. The contest challenges participants to compose and submit their original lyrics to accompany Kara’s music online. A film crew was also present to record the session for a future documentary Kara is working on about the subject of abuse. – Read more at the Phoenix House website.
